Pilates

Pilates was created by Joseph Pilates 70 years ago, and it is a complete way of exercising that combines principles of Yoga and other exercise principles, with a modern twist.

 

The basic principle is controlling & stabilizing the body core, focusing on the belly.

 

Pilates tones the body and helps losing points around the hips and belly.

 

Other than Traditional Pilates, the following Pilates variations are offered at E-Motion Dance & Health Studio (click on each one for more details):

  • Circuit Pilates

    A circular pilates workout, where exercises are performed one after the other with little to no rest.

    Circuit Pilates offers the best of two worlds – the toning and strength benefits of a Pilates class combined with the metabolism boost of a fast-paced cardio workout.

    Since you are constantly moving between stations and changing the type of exercise you are doing, your body never has a chance to get used to what you are doing.

    This will cause your body to burn double or even triple the calories of a normal Pilates class!

  • Yogalates

    A combination of Pilates & Yoga to stretch and strengthen your body.

    Yogalates is a combination of Pilates & Yoga to stretch and strengthen your body. The emphasis is on core control in all poses and focus on breathing while in motion. The full body is covered, leaving you feeling toned and flexible.

    The Yogalates class mixes Yoga stretches and postures to lengthen muscles and promote circulation in the body between exercises.

  • Prenatal Pilates

    A series of exercises designed to cater for mums-to-be which are beneficial to preparing for birth.

    Prenatal Pilates is a type of Pilates designed for pregnant women, and intended to strengthen the muscles of the abdomen, pelvic floor, back, arms, and legs before giving birth.

    Gentle exercise during pregnancy has been shown to be very healthy for women, making it easier not just to give birth, but also improving recovery time and preventing muscle injury when caring for a baby.

  • Abs, Butt and Thighs (A.B.T.) Pilates
